Lawn Care

Lawn Specialties has a lawn and turf care program that will give your lawn the necessary nutrients and protection it needs to stay healthy year-round. This program consists of multiple fertilizations with the appropriate seasonal controls, crabgrass control in early spring, surface insect control in the summer, plus broad-leaf weed controls.

Spring: Well-balanced fertilizer, pre-emergent crabgrass control and broadleaf weed control.

Summer: A balanced fertilizer and broadleaf weed control.

Mid-Summer: Well-balanced, slow release fertilizer, surface insect control and broadleaf weed control.

Late Summer: Well-balanced fertilizer that helps the lawn recover from summer stress and a broadleaf weed control.

Fall: Slow release, balanced fertilizer to help the turf store and receive vital nutrient throughout the winter.

Additional Services under Lawn Care:

Lime: This provides the soil with calcium, which helps maintain the proper pH and assures the proper fertilization response.

Grub Control: This is a sub-surface insect control which protects the root system from excess stress

Core Aeration: Reduces compaction in the soil and also reduces thatch. Core aeration allows nutrients and moisture to reach the root system.

With this program, you will receive free curb/sidewalk weed spraying!

 Tree and Scrub Care

Our Tree and Shrub Care Program was developed to ensure the health of your landscape.

Early Spring: Using Dormant Oil, we will cleanse your trees and shrubs of insects that were living in them over the winter. We’ll put Pre-Emergent Weed Control on Shrub beds to prevent weak growth during this crucial time, and then use and Deep Root Fertilizers to help them come out of dormancy quickly.

Spring/Summer/Fall: We will protect your trees and shrubs from insects and diseases during all three seasons.

Fall: We will re-fertilize using Deep Root Fertilizers to prepare the trees and shrubs for the winter. We’ll then protect the plant over the winter using an Antidesiccant Spray.

Core Aeration and Overseeding

Core aeration is a mechanical form of cultivation which loosens the soil by removing cores, leaving holes in the soil. It improves lawn health by allowing water, air and nutrients to move more freely into the root zone of the grass plants. Double aerating your lawn will increase the amount of cores removed, thus increasing the effectiveness of the treatment.

In addition to the aeration, we will distribute new grass seed to help thicken the grass and treat bare spots.

 Dethatching and Overseeding

Dethatching is a lawn renovation process necessary due to excessive thatch build-up. Thatch is a loose, intermingled organic layer of dead and living stems, shoots and roots that develops between the zone of green vegetation and the soil surface. When thatch exceeds 3/4″, it becomes difficult for water, air and nutrients to penetrate the matting of dead grass plants. The excessive thatch layer creates an environment ideal for disease and insects to breed and live, which ultimately causes the decline of your lawn.

Overseeding will promote new grass growth after the removal of thatch leaves some lawn areas thin.

 Weed and Vegetation Control

This service eliminates undesirable weeds and vegetation in stone sidewalks, patios, pavers, driveways and parking areas. One treatment will eliminate all existing weeds and vegetation and prevent their return for the remainder of the season.

 Flea and Tick Control

Flea and tick treatment will reduce or eliminate disease carrying fleas and ticks for the entire season. Other surface dwelling insects such as ants, army worms, aphids, mites and mosquitoes are also controlled by these applications.
